BILL'S 2014 JAZZ FEST PICKS DAY VII

bigezbarguide

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  No Andy Williams, not Christmas, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the unchallenged greatest music and culture event on the planet.  I hope you have had a spectacular 2 weeks and paced your partying; one more great day ahead at the Fairgrounds.  For the record, I want Bruce Springteen’s passion and energy.

Lots going on first thing this morning, and since this is the last day I expect you all to be out there – The Creole String Beans, Los Po-Boy-Citos and The N.O. Cottonmouth Kings.  After a short break check out Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk with special guest Art “Poppa Funk” Neville, James “12” Andrews and the Zion Harmonizers celebrating their 75th anniversary.  Next up catch some Roddie Romero and Leroy Jones.  People say Arcade Fire is very popular, and Chick Corea is about the same time.  I am guessing if you want to be close to either of these acts you need to be there very early.  For closers, how about the incomparable Bobby Lounge, John Fogarty, Chubby Carrier (ain’t no party like a Chubby party), and, of course, the new tradition, Trombone Shorty.

Remember to practice the “Walk By”, stroll by the many different stages to see bands that you have never heard of for a song or two.  I promise that you will discover something fabulous you never even know existed.  Thanks for coming and, as always, Go Hear Some Life Local Music!
