Today, Thursday June 12, The City That Sobriety Forgot – New Orleans – will join restaurants and bars across Americas commemorating Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. It was on this day in 1973 that he passed on to the great tattoo parlor in the sky. Three venues in New Orleans – Spitfire (627 St. Peter Street / 225.384.0655), Tracey’s (2604 Magazine Street / 504.897.5413), and Mimi’s in the Marigny (2601 Royal Street/ 504.872.9868) – will be celebrating his legacy with $4 “Old Ironsides” cocktails, a signature drink with Sailor Jerry, pineapple juice and a splash of soda.

“Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins is a legacy in the tattoo world, and his influence is set in ink all over New Orleans. On Thursday, his loyal followers will salute him and toast with the 92-proof bold and smooth-as-hell namesake rum on this special day,” says Hayley Waldner, Sailor Jerry Brand Ambassador for New Orleans.

Evoking his true spirit, Sailor Jerry Rum is the authentic, premium, old-school spiced rum. Crafted in the traditional Navy way by William Grant & Sons, Sailor Jerry Rum is strong, spiced and smooth, with hints of caramel and vanilla. Just like the man who inspired it, this 92 proof rum speaks for itself and holds itself to the traditional values and standards of craftsmanship that Sailor Jerry espoused - supporting all creative individuals who feel just as strongly about their respective crafts. Made from aged Caribbean Rum and blended with spices including ginger, cinnamon, clove and vanilla, Sailor Jerry Rum is an exceptionally smooth drink with an ABV of 46%.
